Gaby Iskander, MD, MS, FACS began his surgical career in Wisconsin at Marshfield Clinic and Ministry St. Joseph Hospital where he became the medical director for trauma and the surgical intensive care unit (SICU). He continued his career as a practicing physician and physician leader in Michigan at Spectrum Health, simultaneously serving as chief of acute care surgery, trauma director and the SICU medical director.
Dr Iskander has also been heavily involved in medical education throughout his career serving in various leadership roles including clerkship director, residency program associate director, and core faculty. He enjoys working with and mentoring the next generation of physicians including medical students, residents, and fellows.
Dr. Iskander has been active in leadership roles at the state, regional and national levels within his areas of expertise. While in Wisconsin, he served as chair of the state and regional Trauma Advisory Council and was instrumental in the development of trauma, burn and emergency medical services (EMS) policy related to disaster management; he assumed those same roles when he moved to Michigan. On a national level, Dr. Iskander works as a reviewer for the American College of Surgeons for verification of trauma centers.
Dr. Iskander is also active in the community, serving on the boards of clinical and charitable organizations. He enjoys teaching as well as outdoor activities including soccer, tennis, pickleball and basketball.
